“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)
Submitting: (v) to give over or yield to the power or authority of another (often used reflexively).
Submission is really major when it comes to our relationship with Yahweh. At least for me it is. Boy, I am a control freak. I know what I want, and I know how I want. Therefore, I make it happen my way, not God’s way.
Point is, being a control freak and set apart for the Father is hard to do. It’s like two drivers in one seat pulling for the wheel! Ah!
But, submitting is simply trusting. Yahweh told the Israelites that He is their husband. Which means, Israel is His wife.
According to scriptures, what is the role of the wife towards her husband?
“Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.”(Ephesians 5:22)
In other words, (Israel), submits yourselves unto your (Father/God).
Sister, married or not, we CANNOT submit to our husbands if we do not KNOW and practice submitting to God everyday. It’s truly impossible.
We must learn to trust God by:
- Casting our cares to Him (1 Peter 5:7)
- Loving/Obeying Him (John 14:15)
- Having total faith in Him (Revelation 14:12)
THINK: what holds you back from truly submitting your life to The Father.
- Hate towards others?
- Hate towards the Father?
- Hate towards yourself?
Sin, in general, keep us from submitting totally to the Father.
DO: pray and ask the Savior to search your heart for WHATEVER and WHOMEVER that’s keeping you from submitting to God. If they’re keeping you from submitting your life to God, evaluate the relation.
Sister before you think any farther into marriage, make the Father your husband and submit your love, your life to Him. All of it.
It’s totally worth it.
As I work to become a better woman for Your Glory, I let go all of my cares today and I submit my life to You. I submit and obey every Word that is written in Your scriptures. I know You love me and once I leave everything in Your hands, everything will be alright. Thank you for taking care of me. Thank you for building me into who You’ve called me to be. I worship You for this and more. In Jesus’ name I do pray, Amen.
